Exciting changes are happening at Wellingborough School, a fully co-educational day school offering an all-round education to children throughout their school journey, and located just 50 minutes from London St Pancras by train.
The Northamptonshire school positions itself as an all-through school, welcoming the very youngest into the Nursery at the start of their learning journey, potentially taking them through to A levels in the recently redeveloped Sixth Form Centre as they prepare for higher education and work at the end of it.
Following its £1.7m investment in the new Sixth Form Centre, the School has turned its attention to further improvements, beginning with the current development of a new state-of-the-art technology centre.
Founded in 1595, Wellingborough School is renowned for its academic excellence, providing pupils with the qualifications they need while at the same time instilling a lifelong love of learning. Meanwhile, the ethos of the School ensures that every pupil, from the very youngest to those in Sixth Form enjoys a sense of stability and belonging, with interaction between different areas of the School so that everyone feels included and part of the educational ethos.
Headmaster Andrew Holman said:
“We are very proud of what we offer at Wellingborough School and that children come from far and wide to enjoy the educational excellence we offer. The work we’ve done in recent years, and that we have planned for the next few years will further enhance the facilities and opportunities we offer.
“With a mainline station close by and just 50 minutes from London, pupils travelling by train from the capital could have a faster journey to school than some of those living in the surrounding counties, and that’s something we want to shout about.
“Intake can be into any year throughout the School, but we certainly always look forward to many new pupils joining us in Year 7, when a decision has to be made about their secondary school education.”
The School operates five bus routes across Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire and a shuttle service to and from the School and Wellingborough train station. These services are specifically available to Wellingborough School pupils. Regular trains run between St Pancras and Wellingborough.
Open mornings will be held for the Prep School, for entry into Nursery to Year 6, on Friday, September 29; and on Saturday October 7 for entry into the Senior School. Applications for the January entrance exams need to be in by December; entry into the Sixth Form is based on GCSE results. Scholarships and bursaries are available, with details available from the School.
