Even after years of delivering bespoke, independent financial advice, often to the ‘super-wealthy’ or high-net-worth individuals, Alan Powell and his company, Elite Wealth Management, have never lost sight of the importance of delivering excellent service levels to every client, regardless of worth, income and circumstances.
Integrity, professionalism and respect is the firm’s motto – backed up by a belief that everyone has a right to feel confident that they are being well advised when it comes to significant and life-changing financial decisions.
Elite Wealth Management, which has offices in London, Penzance and Plymouth, specialises in investments, Inheritance Tax planning and pensions, and has also developed an employee benefit department to help companies set up employee group schemes as well as director’s own protection and health benefits. While Alan, who founded the company in 2009, works personally with high-net-worth individuals, his personal sense of integrity and fairness means that his company’s services are available for anybody who needs them.
“It is important to me that we work with people of all incomes as we believe everybody has the right to good, sound financial advice,”
he said.
“We want to help SMEs get set up and grow, and we want to provide small business owners and directors with the financial services they need to help them maintain a firm financial footing and protect their investments while at the same time looking after their private wealth and personal affairs.
“We strongly believe in the ethos of being honest with people, treating them with respect and being there for them. I am a great believer in the importance of establishing relationships, both with clients and other professionals. Our clients always come first. And most of our business comes through referrals from existing clients as well as via solicitors and accountants such as Alan Kennedy of Trident Tax – people who share our principles.”
Alan, whose early life saw him spend a significant amount of years in children’s homes, learned respect and discipline in the Royal Navy. After leaving the forces, he moved into finance, starting his career with large corporates and banks before realising that he could offer better value to his clients by becoming independent and offering bespoke solutions. He now runs a company that has six advisers serving over 700 clients and around £100m under management.
That stated commitment to the client served Elite Wealth Management well during the pandemic, as the team strove to be there at a time when clients needed additional support, reassurance and advice. Alan swiftly adapted to the new environment, setting up a secure messaging service, a portal for clients to upload financial details and turning increasingly to video conferencing and instant messaging for communication.
In addition, a range of informative newsletters, client guides and brochures covering all aspects of wealth management are available to download from the Elite Wealth Management website.
“We invested in the resources we needed, at a cost to the company, of course, but outweighed by the benefits it brought to clients,”
he added.
“This is a great industry to be in and can be very satisfying but you have to have the right attitude and to respect your clients because without the clients you are nothing.”
