XPO, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable end-to-end logistics solutions in Europe, announced today that its partnership with Saint-Gobain PAM UK, a leader of comprehensive ductile iron pipe and fittings for water and sewage networks, has been extended for an additional five years, cementing the distinguished work undertaken by both companies since 2018.
The close working relationship and shared environmental ethos of both XPO Logistics and Saint-Gobain PAM UK have led to significant reductions in carbon emissions across both businesses. The extension of the partnership for five more years makes it possible to continue to innovate, evolve and deliver a high level of customer experience with a clear, sustainable pathway to net zero.
XPO operates 20 sites for Saint-Gobain across the UK and Ireland, including 340,000 square feet of warehousing space across three locations for Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions and PAM, which is continuing to expand. Saint-Gobain PAM is headquartered in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
XPO and Saint-Gobain PAM UK have a clear and collaborative approach to the partnership, which is based on a ‘four-pillar’ approach:
- Safety
- Sustainability
- Service
- Cost Delivery
Alan Gwilliam, managing director, Saint-Gobain PAM UK, said:
“Our shared approach to cutting carbon emissions means we have been able to reduce the impact our business has on the environment. Through the focus on these four pillars, the partnership delivers in the key areas of its distribution and supply chain. This is very important to our customers and us, and we know that by extending our partnership with XPO for a further five years, we can make additional significant progress towards reaching net zero.”
Nearly two-thirds (70%) of the Saint-Gobain PAM fleet has been operating on sustainable fuels, including liquified natural gas (LNG) and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), a green alternative to diesel that can be used directly in diesel engines, and plans are in place for further conversion in 2024.
Dan Myers, managing director – UK and Ireland, XPO Logistics, said:
“Saint-Gobain PAM UK is a progressive business with strong environmental and social values. By doing business the right way and working together, PAM and XPO have made a significant change in the environmental performance of the logistics operation whilst also supporting the growth of PAM’s UK business. The approach both businesses take to working together is a case study in partnership in action.”
Due to the nature of the product, Saint-Gobain PAM is a complex delivery solution, so XPO tailors its logistics solutions to meet specific needs by offering a wide range of vehicle types across the UK mainland, regularly delivering to distributors and direct-to-strategic infrastructure projects.
XPO’s innovative service offerings include technology-enabled truckload, less-than-truckload, truck brokerage, managed transport, last mile, and freight forwarding. The company tailors its solutions to customer-specific needs across consumer, trade, and industrial sectors and world-class events.
